What is Python?

Why python was created:

1.In late 1980, guido van Rossum was working on the Amoeba distributed operating system group.
2.He wanted to use an interpreted language like ABC (ABC has easy to understand Syntax) that could access the Ameba system calls.
3.so, he decided to create a language that was extencible.This led to design of a new language which was later python.

Why the name python:
Python is not named after the snake
When he began implementing Python, Guido van Rossum was also reading the published scripts from
“Monty Python's Flying Circus”, a BBC comedy series from the 1970s. Van Rossum thought he needed a
name that was short, unique, and slightly mysterious, so he decided to call the language Python.
