The rapid cooling sources the outer layer of the TMT to settle into a tough marten site structure that’s high in lastingness. The water jet is stopped whilst the inner core of the rebar remains hot. The inner core then cools down at temperature forming lax ferrite pearlite that provides the rebar its ductility.
